Upgrade high school: CPI

Special Correspondent

PUDUKOTTAI: The Tirumayam Taluk unit of the Communist Party of India has urged the Education Department to take immediate action for upgrading the Government Girls’ High School at Ponpudupatti village near Ponnamaravathy.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the party’s Taluk secretary A.L. Raju said that although adequate site was available for the construction of additional class-rooms for upgrading the high school into a higher secondary institution, the Education Department was delaying the process. Local villagers had also adhered to the norms of contributing their share for upgrading the school. A large number of girls would benefit if it was upgraded, he said.

Members of the party staged a demonstration in support of this demand at the bus stand in Ponnamaravathy recently.

The District Committee member Azhagarsamy and others spoke.
