Congress for taking Left into confidence
New Delhi: The Congress on Monday said the civilian nuclear agreement with the United States was in “national interest” and the government would try its best to take along the Left parties in going ahead with the deal.
“The Left has given the government outside support for the last four years. We want to take them into confidence, take them along in going ahead with the deal,” All India Congress Committee spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told journalists here.
Mr. Ahmed expressed the hope that the scheduled meeting of the UPA-Left committee on the nuclear deal would yield some positive outcome.
The next meeting was not compulsorily the last meeting of the panel. “A decision may be taken to meet again,” he said. — PTI
