APERC key posts to be filled soon

HYDERABAD: Energy Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir has said the existing vacant posts of chairman and member (Finance) in the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission will be filled “soon”.

The government has received four applications for the post of Chairman. The applicants are A. Raghothama Rao, senior IAS officer who retired recently as Chief Secretary, Gayathri Ramachandran, another senior officer, D. Prabhakara Rao, Director (Finance), AP Genco, and R. Radhakishen, present member of the APERC (Technical). The posts fell vacant following retirement of K. Swaminathan as Chairman and the voluntary retirement taken by Surinder Pal, member (Finance) recently.

The Commission is functioning only with one member -- R. Radhakishen. The Minister told reporters the posts would have to be filled soon as, several petitions dealing with matters of public importance were pending before the Commission.
