Superstars control Malayalam cinema, says writer
Special Correspondent
THALASSERY: Malayalam writer C.V. Balakrsishnan has said that Malayalam cinema started facing problems after superstars replaced directors as the centre of cinema.
He was speaking at a function organised here on Tuesday to felicitate Priyanandanan, director of ‘Pulijanman’ that won the national award for the best film, and its scriptwriters N. Prabhakaran and N. Sasidharan.
‘Full of tension’
Mr. Balakrishnan said that the contemporary cinema world was full of tension that was not favourable for the making of good movies.
The director used to be the centre of cinema in the past, he said adding that the hegemony of superstars had changed the environment in the Malayalam cinema field.
