PUDUCHERRY: Secretary of the Federation of People’s Rights (Puducherry) G.Sugumaran on Tuesday alleged that his application seeking information under the Right to Information Act, 2005 with regard to matters related to Tourism Department of the territorial government had been “redirected” to him. In a statement here, he said the application under RTI Act was sent to the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Chief Secretariat by registered post on June 17. The PIO, “after reading the application” had redirected it on June 22, he said, adding that this was a “punishable offence” under the RTI Act. Mr.Sugumaran said that a complaint had been lodged with the Chief Secretary in this regard. He had also sought “proper action against the PIO who had refused to provide information”.
