GANDEPALLI (Krishna district): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has assured the growers of subabul that the government will come to their rescue and ensure good price for their produce. “I was just told that the area of cultivation under subabul has significantly increased over the last few years, and as a result there aren’t many buyers for the produce. Immediately after reaching Hyderabad, I will convene a meeting with officials and subabul buyers and ensure that the growers get minimum support price for the produce,” the Chief Minister said while addressing a meeting here after inaugurating the Rs.130-crore grain-based ethanol plant of Sentini Bioproducts Private Limited. Responding to an appeal made by local leaders, Dr. Reddy said that the government would invite tenders for construction of two bridges in the district under Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) method. The first one would be laid across the Krishna to connect Chevitikallu to Amaravathi in Guntur district, which would enable people of West Krishna region to travel to Guntur district in less time. The second one would be laid across Wyra at Koodali village near Kanchikacharla. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the proposed alternative highway to connect Hyderabad to Machilipatnam, which would pass through Warangal and Khammam districts, would be a major addition to the infrastructure in this region. Coupled with Bandar Port that was fast coming up, there would be many job opportunities for the youths of the district.
