VIZIANAGARAM: The Department of Management Studies in Maharajah’s Post-graduate College has achieved 100 per cent placement for MBA-2006-08 batch. The average percentage of placements during the four years was 92 per cent. The pay package offered for the new recruits was between Rs.1.5 lakhs and Rs.4 lakhs per annum, said K. Hanumantha Rao, Director of the college. P. Srinivasa Subba Rao, Head of the Department and Placement Officer was present. At a press conference on Tuesday, Dr. Hanumantha Rao said that M.Com students too secured 80 per cent of placements in various industries. He attributed the success to in-house training and said that students selected were from rural and semi-urban areas. New coursesThe Director said the response to two new courses—Master of Human Resources Management and M.Sc (bio-technology)--introduced this academic year was good as all the seats were filled up on the first day of counselling itself. He said that the college had signed a MoU with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad for offering one-year diploma in ‘open learning programme in entrepreneurship development’. The course would help the students start their own venture, he said and added that the Ministry of Science and Technology offered 50 per cent fee concession for B.Sc/B.E/Ploytechnic students.
