Sports meet for persons with disabilities

CHENNAI: St.Joseph College of Engineering will hold the first southern regional sports meet for persons with multiple disabilities at its premises on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in the first week of July.

The programme, being jointly organised by the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities and the College, will have around 400 participants from various non-governmental organisations registered with the Institute.

Participants from others States are expected, said a press release from the institute. The event is scheduled to be held from July 3 to 6 and the events are inline with Special Olympics, Paralympics and Abilymbics and include motor activity, bowling with slide, tennis ball throw, rolling the ball and assisted walk.
