Road widening to be taken up in Malkajgiri
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Road widening programme is going to reach the suburbs with the GHMC deciding to widen the Mirjalguda crossroads to Neredmet via Old Malkajgiri stretch of 5.2 km length to ease traffic congestion. Similarly, the road from Tirumalanagar to Vinayaknagar junction via RTC Colony would also be taken up for widening.
This was stated by the Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma during a visit to the Malkajgiri circle on Tuesday. Six colony parks at an estimated cost of Rs. 88 lakh have also been sanctioned, he said.
During a works review, he felt that laying of colony roads, underground drainage, protected walls around the identified open places, development of parks, etc., was going very slow. About 496 works were sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 33 crore in the circle of which, 134 works were completed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore.
About 476 SHGs were identified in the area and over Rs. 2 crore was sanctioned to them, said Shiva Parvathi, Additional Commissioner (UCD).
