CPI(M) to intensify agitations

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to join hands with like-minded parties like the CPI to intensify agitations on public issues and mount pressure on the Government to take immediate steps to alleviate the plight of people.

The CPI (M) State secretariat which met here on Tuesday expressed concern over the latest orders for introduction of CBSE syllabus in VI and VII standards and merger of upper primary schools with high schools. The decision would pose problems to parents of students hailing from ST and weaker section communities as well as teachers.

The CPI(M) took objection to the way the Government was trying to benefit the Congress leaders and cadre by making the district in-charge Ministers responsible to sanction funds under the Rs. 1,000 crore rural development works. The Government remained ‘indifferent’ to the steep rise in the prices of essentials that was making the lives of unorganised workers and small income families ‘miserable’, it said.

The party also expressed serious concern over the shortage of seeds and fertilisers.
