VIJAYAWADA: The BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday asserted that their party had everything to gain from the increasingly crisis-ridden political scene in the State with both the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party facing unprecedented odds. Addressing a press conference at the end of a day-long meeting of the party convenors of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in coastal districts, Mr. Dattatreya said that the situation was conducive to the strengthening of the BJP in the wake of recent by-election results as also the resignation of senior TDP leader T. Devender Goud. While the TRS had significantly weakened in Telangana, the main Opposition TDP faced an increasing threat from its own leaders, he said. He asserted that the formation of Telangana State would be possible only under the leadership of the BJP. Increasing supportMr. Dattatreya spoke about increasing support from women and young people to L.K. Advani’s candidature for the Prime Minister’s post. He said that the isolation of the Congress party both at the national level and in the State on various issues also opened up ground for the BJP to make inroads. Mr. Dattatreya said that a decision was taken at the day’s meeting to organise a 15-day programme under the name ‘kisan adalats’ in all villages. He said that a road map to next elections was made at the meeting and the party activists would actively go to the people to highlight the Congress government’s failures to address the problems of the farmers. “We must not forget that 5,460 farmers committed suicides.
