Gogoi hails ULFA decision

Special Correspondent

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday welcomed the unilateral ceasefire declared by the ‘A’ and ‘C’ companies of the 28th Battalion of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) for facilitating peace talks with the Centre.

“I welcome the decision to give up the path of confrontation and come for talks with the government. It is definitely in the right direction and will help in ushering peace in the State,” Mr. Gogoi said in a statement here. He did not say if the government would reciprocate the gesture.
