VCK cadres held

TIRUPATTUR: Eight cadres of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi were arrested for damaging two buses in protest against the attack on their party’s town secretary Shashi Kumar on Monday night.
Inspector Pooncholai told The Hindu that the police were on the look-out of four more persons.
According to sources, Shashi Kumar was consuming liquor sitting outside a house opposite to the Raipur Dharbar Hotel nearby the Tirupattur New Bus Stand. When the house owner, Ravi, house objected to it, Kumar verbally abused Mumtaz, Ravi’s wife.
An irate Ravi assaulted Kumar, who was take to the government hospital for treatment. When the news spread, party cadres rushed to Ravi’s house.
However, the police received information and the Sub Inspector rescued Ravi.
