Ten arrested, stolen property recovered Crime notes

BANGALORE: The city police on Tuesday arrested 10 members of two different gangs who were allegedly involved in burglary of houses and offices.

The Chickpet police arrested five persons allegedly involved in 14 cases of burglary in Chickpet, Cottonpet, Ulsoor Gate and Kalasipalayam police station limits. The police recovered Rs. 16 lakh, 300 saris, 250 gm of gold ornaments, 4 kg of silver articles, a laptop and other electronic household gadgets from them.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Imran Khan (20), Aslam (22), Jaffar (20), Fayaz (20) and Wazir Pasha (19).

The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have arrested five persons allegedly involved in 17 cases of burglary of offices in Indira Nagar, Ramamurthy Nagar, Banaswadi and Frazer Town police station limits. The police gave the names of the accused as Meen Bahadhur (26), Santosh Bahadhur (20), Modi Bahadhur (25), Raju Bahadhur (30), Lakshmiraj Jagat (26).

The police have recovered 60 gm of gold ornaments, 12 laptops, a television, a DVD, a handycam and a camera.

Dies of burns

Varalakshmi (20), a resident of Kamalanagar, died of burns at the Victoria Hospital on Tuesday.

She was admitted to the hospital after she allegedly set herself ablaze in her house on Monday night.

The police said Varalakshmi was being allegedly harassed by her husband Srinivas, an autorickshaw driver. On Monday night, she allegedly set herself ablaze when there was nobody in the house. Neighbours admitted her to the hospital. The Basaveshwara Nagar police have registered a case against Srinivas, who is absconding.
