Thrissur: A group of writers on Wednesday urged the Government not to withdraw the seventh-standard social studies textbook. In a statement issued here, the writers said the textbook upheld the country’s secular traditions . “We respect the textbook. Fundamentalism, which has been lying low for a while in Kerala society, is staging a comeback. The controversy over the textbook has brought together fundamentalists of different hues. It disturbs us,” the statement added. The signatories include M. Mukundan, Balachandran Chullikkad, K. R. Mohanan, P. T. Kunjumohammed, Prabha Varma, K. E. N. Kunjahammed, Vaisakhan, Priyanandan, Ravunni, Ashokan Cheruvil, Purushan Kadalundi, Kadathanattu Narayanan, A. K. Nambiar, N. R. Gramaprakash, Prabhakaran Pazhassi, P. K. Gopi, Amritha, Vijayalakshmi, Alamcode Leelakrishnan, Manambur Rajan Babu, S. Saradakutty, P. V. K. Panayal, V. N. Murali, Ashtamurthy, C. R. Das, P. S. Iqbal, Kureepuzha Sreekumar, V. V.
