PUDUCHERRY: The Joint Action Committee of Puducherry State Fishermen Organisation on Wednesday launched a campaign against the Coastal Zone Management notification by sending large number of letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Minister for Environment A. Raja seeking their intervention to stall it. Convener of JAC M. Elango, who dropped the first “protest letter” into the post box at the Head Post Office here, said the campaign was in response to the Central government’s announcement that fishermen could lodge their objections to the CZM notification before June 30. Fishermen belonging to villages from Kanagachettikulam to Murthikuppam had submitted their objections to the Centre through letters.
