Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to limit house tax exemption for ex-servicemen to one house per person irrespective of whether it is occupied by the ex-serviceman or his widow. An assurance to this effect was given by Local Self-government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty to the representatives of ex-servicemen at talks held here on Wednesday. Mr. Mohammed Kutty said whether the facility would be extended to buildings with an area more than 3,000 sq ft. would be decided later. The talks were held in the context of the concern expressed by ex-servicemen’s organisations over the government’s move to impose restrictions on the house tax exemption facility provided to the ex-servicemen. — Special Correspondent
