‘Out of court settlement scheme’ again

CHANDIGARH: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has decided to offer again its attractive “Out of Court Settlement Scheme” with immediate effect, an official spokesman said here on Wednesday.
The scheme, operational till July 31, would be available for settlement of all cases pending in courts, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, State Commission and arbitration as on August 31, 2007. The cases in which a penalty had been levied by the Nigam would be settled out of court under this scheme but it would not be applicable to cases relating to theft of electricity.
The consumer or applicant would have to pay a reduced amount of 50 per cent of the amount initially assessed along with simple interest at the rate of 15 p.c. per annum.
