BHOPAL: Hundreds of MISA detainees -- jailed under the dreaded Maintenance of Internal Security Act after the imposition of the infamous Emergency in 1975 -- were honoured at a special function held at the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s residence here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Emergency veterans were full of praise for the Chief Minister and his style of working. Some of them, including Komal Chand Bhandari (Sagar), Punam Chand Kothari (Narsinghpur), Mattulal Prajapati (Damoh) and Arif Baig (Bhopal), blessed Mr. Chauhan for “taking the State on the path of development and working for the uplift of the weaker sections”. Over 1,500 MISA detainees were present at the function. They had come here from districts across the State. The Chief Minister was polite in refusing to be honoured by the Madhya Pradesh Misabandi Sangathan on this occasion. At the outset, he mingled with the detainees and accorded them a warm and traditional welcome by showering flower petals. He also hosted a lunch for the MISA detainees and senior party leaders.
