Canara Bank hands over dividend cheque

BANGALORE: Canara Bank, which made a net profit of Rs. 1,565 crore in 2007-08, declared a dividend of 80 per cent on Wednesday, the highest ever since government stake in the bank was diluted in November 2002. Last year, the bank declared a dividend of 70 per cent. M. B. N. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, handed over a cheque for Rs. 240 crore as dividend for 2007-08 to the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, in New Delhi. — Special Correspondent
