KOLKATA: India had a mixed day at the fourth Meteksan World Cup at Boe in France on Tuesday. The three-member Indian team, continued to show indifferent form to finish eighth overall with a total of 1944 points. On the individual front, only Jayanta Talukdar had a top-10 finish ending the two 70m FITA round at the sixth place with 663 points. National champion Rahul Banerjee slumped to 18th with 654 while Waikhom Ranjan Singh ended 34th with 643. Tyagi eliminated
Priyank Tyagi was eliminated from the individual knockout Olympic round, his total 627 fetching him the 70th spot. Only top 64 make it to the championship round. With no Olympic berth available for the Indians from this meet, the only interest left in this World Cup was whether Talukdar and Banerjee would make it to the World Cup final at Lausanne on September 27 this year. Banerjee on 36 and Talukdar on 31 gleaned from earlier three legs. Talukdar has drawn 59th-ranked Calvin Hartley of South Africa; Banerjee will face 47th-placed Jantsan Gantugs of Mongolia and Singh will come up against 31st-ranked Romain Girouille of France, the Porec World Cup champion. The threesome of Talukdar, Banerjee and Tyagi, will take on ninth-ranked USA in the first round of the team competition. Korean Im Dong Hyun is leading the World Cup final aspirants list with 43 points. Surprisingly he finished 20th in this meet while his nearest competitor Girouille, on 38 points, finished 31st.
