BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has convened a meeting of experts from various fields on June 28 to discuss Bangalore’s development. Around 400 people would participate in the consultative meeting to be held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said after inaugurating the 496th birth anniversary of Kempe Gowda organised by Bangalore Nirmapaka Kempe Gowda Kendra Samiti at Town Hall here on Wednesday. Besides the infrastructure, the meeting would discuss the problems and solutions relating to roads, drinking water, sewage and waste management. Special programmes would be chalked out and implemented on the basis of the suggestions that emerge at the meeting, Mr. Yeddyurappa said. He would hold a meeting every two months, on a second Saturday, to review the progress of various development works taken up in Bangalore. “In the next two years, the picture of Bangalore would change for better. I will speak less and work more,” he said. Mr. Yeddyurappa said that to address the traffic woes of the city, he had instructed the officials to hasten the work on the metro rail project. The former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had highlighted the need for improving Bangalore’s infrastructure and made some suggestions in this regard, he said. “Kempe Gowda’s dream of a strong, prosperous and well-developed Bangalore would be realised by the time we celebrate his 500th birth anniversary,” the Chief Minister said.
