KSU leaders continue fast

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) State president Hybee Eden and five others continued their hunger strike even after being shifted to the medical college hospital here on Wednesday.

Mr. Eden, KSU president Sherin Varghese, Shafi Parambil, Marshal, Sivaraman and Sasthamcottah Sudhir, who had been on hunger strike in the Central Prison, Poojappura, since Sunday, were shifted to ward 2 of the hospital around 1.15 p.m. after their condition deteriorated. They were demanding an end to police atrocities on striking KSU activists in the State and withdrawal of the controversial class VII textbook. Meanwhile, a statement here said that the KSU State committee would hold a dharna in front of the Secretariat from 10 a.m. on Thursday seeking withdrawal of the controversial textbook and an end to the police torture. The KSU also announced that it would organise ‘sayana sadassu’ on Thursday in the 13 other districts.
