Chitradurga: Ten candidates are in the fray for the Legislative Council elections from the graduates’ constituency. The elections have been scheduled for June 26. The constituency is spread across five districts —Kolar, Chickballapur, Tumkur, Chitrdurga and Davangere. The candidates are S. Lokeshwarappa of the Congress, A.H. Shivayogiswamy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), H. S. Shivashankar of the Janata Dal (Secular), apart from seven independents. The number of graduates in Chitradurga district is 9,593. Thirteen polling centres have been set up in the district. Casual leaveTeachers and government officers in the constituency have been permitted to avail themselves of casual leave to exercise their franchise.
