TAMBARAM: Jewellery and valuables were stolen from two houses in Pazhavanthangal and Pammal on Tuesday. According to sources, G. Bharathiraja, resident of Lakshmi Nagar Fifth Main Road in Nanganallur , had locked his house on the ground floor and was sleeping along with his family members upstairs. On Tuesday morning, he noticed the doors and almirah broken open and jewellery weighing nine sovereigns, a cell phone and a couple of wrist watches missing, the Pazhavanthangal police said. Jewellery weighing about 20 sovereigns was also stolen from a house in Pammal on Tuesday. Mani, a driver, was living in an apartment on Kamarajar High Road. He had taken his wife to a tailoring class at 2.30 p.m. When he returned at 5. 30 p.m., he noticed the front door broken open and the jewellery missing, the Shankar Nagar police said. Chain snatchedA school girl was relieved of her gold chain while she was returning home on a bicycle in Chitlapakkam. Sathya (16), a resident of Ganapathypuram in Chromepet, was returning home after attending tuition when a motorcycle-borne youth assaulted her, snatched her gold chain weighing about two sovereigns and fled.
