Viniv Inc case: police told to furnish CDs

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday directed the police to furnish CDs they made containing the names of depositors, to the court and to other parties who were contesting the case.

The court directed the prosecutor to file an application seeking permission to move the authorities in Hyderabad for release of Rs. 10 lakh kept in a chit fund. The court was told that Viniv Inc had deposited Rs. 10 lakh with a chit fund firm in Hyderabad.

The firm refused to give the money unless the court ordered it.

The court told the Government that it would pass orders directing the firm to release the money. It asked the Government to prepare an application and file it before the Registry. The court passed these orders when it was dealing with a petition by Sreenivasa Shastry, one of the promoters of Viniv Inc.

Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh adjourned further hearing on the case to enable the prosecution to serve copies of the CDs on Shastry and others.
