List for debt waiver scrutinised

Arrangements were being made for granting new loans to farmers whose loans were waived


THANJAVUR: In connection with the Central Government’s Agricultural debt waiver and debt relief scheme 2008, the General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, R. Krishnan, visited bank’s Kandiyur and Kalyanapuram branches on June 21 to check the list of farmers who were eligible for waiver or relief under the scheme.

Distributing the waiver certificates to a few eligible farmers, the General Manager informed that under the scheme 25,353 farmers of Thanjavur district and 7,854 farmers of Perambalur district would be benefiting to the tune of Rs.54.73 crore.

He also informed that necessary arrangements were being made for granting new loans to farmers whose overdue loans were waived under the scheme. The Chief Regional Manager T. Veerappan, and Chief Manager R. Baskaran of Thanjavur Regional Office were present.
