Krishnasswamy praises Karunanidhi

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy has congratulated Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for initiating steps to link rivers in Tamil Nadu by laying the foundation stone for the Rs.165-crore Mayanur barrage in Tiruchi on Tuesday.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Mr. Krishnasswamy said at a time when the State depended on neighbouring States to meet its water needs, the proposed link would optimise the utilisation of river water within the State. He was confident that National Development Council under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme would provide necessary funds for the link.
