Law took its own course, says Jagan

KADAPA: The law took its course in the arrest of Andhra Jyothi Editor Srinivas and two reporters and the issue is between the State Government and Andhra Jyothi management, Saakshi managing director Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy remarked on Wednesday.

The police arrested the editor and scribes after holding discussions for three-and-half hours, he told a press conference here and added that the police could have arrested them within half-an-hour in the normal course

Advising Andhra Jyothi MD Radhakrishna not to indulge in mudslinging, he condemned the attack on the vernacular daily’s office as undemocratic.

Hyderabad Special Correspondent adds: Senior journalists and editors of different newspapers called on the arrested editor of Andhra Jyothi Telugu daily K. Srinivas and two other journalists in Chanchalguda central prison. The journalists included K. Ramachandra Murthy (T-channel); Piratla Venkateswarlu (Krishna Patrika); P. Vijaya Babu (Andhra Prabha); M.V.R.Sastry (Andhra Bhoomi); Zahed Ali Khan (Siasat); Syed Vicaruddin (Rehnuma-e-Deccan); S. Nagesh Kumar (The Hindu); S. Vinay Kumar (Prajashakti); Damerla Saibaba (Vaartha); Vidyaranya (Andhra Prabha) and K.S. Rangasai (Skyline) and G. Anjaneyulu.

They described the arrest of the journalists as a black mark on democracy.
