SRINAGAR: The former Union Home Secretary and Centre’s interlocutor on Kashmir, Narendar Nath Vohra, took over as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. He asked the people to forget the past and look to the future in resolving all issues, including the land transfer trouble. Chief Justice of the J&K High Court K.S. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Vohra who arrived in a state aircraft from New Delhi. A large number of dignitaries, including Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain, former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, National Conference president and MP Omar Abdullah, Ministers and top officials attended the function held on the Raj Bhavan lawns. To a question whether he would continue to maintain contact with separatists with whom he was in touch as interlocutor, he said: “I will be in touch with all the people of the State and contribute to building a healthy atmosphere which will be beneficial in ensuring harmony and peace.” Earlier, the former Governor, S.K. Sinha, was accorded a guard of honour at the Srinagar airport. He left with his family and was seen off by Mr. Azad and his ministerial colleagues from the Congress.
