Chennai: This year’s Duchess all-women car rally will take place on July 6, with the start scheduled for 9 a.m. from Hotel Savera. The seventh edition, organised by the Madras Motor Sports Club in association with the Duchess Club, will be sponsored for the first time by J.K. Tyre. Extra Premium (Indian Oil), Hi! Tours, Club Mahindra and Cookie Man are the co-sponsors. Radio City (91.1FM) is the radio partner. The rally will follow a Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) format, and will cover a distance of 90 to 100 kms, before finishing at Savera. The event is open for cars of all engine capacities and categories including diesel cars and jeeps. A maximum of four women are recommended per car. Expert, Regular, Novice and Duchess will be the four categories. “We are looking to bring in a theme as well and spread a message through the rally,” said Nina Reddy of the Duchess Club, at a press conference here on Wednesday.
