‘Gandhiji’s trust with the Railways’, Ten commandments for the train passing staff, Slowest and fastest train in the universe, are among the articles.
SAFETY CONCERNS: The Cover page of ‘Anantha Jagratha,’ the magazine released by Railways. Safety has been the highest priority of Indian Railways since its very inception. With technological advancements and modernised operating systems, Railways have taken several steps to ensure safety in train operations. Railways have been carrying out regular institutional training programmes to educate the staff on this very aspect. And the latest in line is a quarterly safety magazine, Anantha Jagratha, by the Traffic Safety division of the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division. It was officially launched by Southern Railway General Manager Rakesh Chopra during his recent visit to the State capital. Safety with Efficiency“The theme of the publication is ‘Safety with Efficiency’ and bringing out the magazine is part of the effort to revamp, revitalise and re-enthuse the operations of the division,” says J. Vinayan, Senior Divisional Operations Manager and chief editor. The magazine, with articles in English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil, has messages from Divisional Railway Manager Titus P. Koshy and Additional Divisional Manager Sulthan Mushathick. “Ensuring safety in train operations is the sacrosanct duty of each and every railway staff. The magazine will be an effective medium for inculcating safety consciousness among the staff,” Mr. Koshy reminds the railway personnel in his message. ‘Gandhiji’s trust with the Railways,’ Dos and Don’ts for the staff, Ten commandments for the train passing staff, Slowest and fastest train in the universe, are among the articles. ‘The funny side of railway journeys,’ ‘How railways made tracks in the country,’ and ‘Railways in a changing world order,’ figure in the 60-page magazine. World speed records for the fastest conventional train, diesel powered train, steam locomotive, rail vehicle and narrow gauge are included. On the back cover, there is the poem ‘Faster than fairies, faster than witches…’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. S. Anil Radhakrishnan
