Collector inspects site

NAMAKKAL: Collector U. Sagayam inspected the site identified for new Samathuvapuram at Agaram village in Elachipalayam block near here on Wednesday.

The Collector said that the district administration would send a proposal to the State Government immediately seeking approval for the site and to take up construction activities.

The district already has Samathuvapurams in four places Sirumolasi, Kunnamalai, Athanur and M. Mettupatti areas. A fair price shop, community hall, better roads, street lights and various other amenities were created in these Samathuvapurams, he added.

Later, the Collector inspected the Primary Health Centre in Elachipalayam and asked the health officials to keep the surroundings neat and tidy.

He advised the doctors and paramedical personnel to treat the patients respectfully. Vaccination camps should be conducted at the centre as per the instructions given by the Government.

The district administration would honour the health personnel, if they performed well, he added. He asked the officials to plant more tree saplings near the centre.

Interacting with the people in the area, the Collector said that the State Government provides Rs. 6,000 as assistance to the pregnant women under Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme.

Approach officials

He asked the women to directly approach the officials concerned to seek welfare assistance under government schemes.

District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj, District Rural Development Agency Project officer Renugadevi and senior officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
