‘Will it be or not…’: It is that time of the year again at Delhi University now. - NEW DELHI: Top Delhi University colleges have registered a marginal change of 0.5 per cent to 1 per cent in the cut-offs for admission to Arts and Commerce courses, whereas the percentage for some Science courses has either maintained the status quo or gone down in the first cut-off list for admissions released on Wednesday evening. B.Com. (Honours)The cut-off mark for B.Com. (Honours) at the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce is 94.5-98 per cent compared to 94.75-98.75 per cent last year. At Hans Raj and Hindu College, students will require 94-95 and 94-97 per cent, respectively. Sri Venkateswara College has seen a small increase from 94-95 per cent in 2007-08 to 94.5-95 this year. To pursue the same course at Ramjas College, students need between 93.5 and 95.5 per cent. The cut-off mark for B.Com. (Hons) at Lady Shri Ram College stands at a high 95.50 per cent, up from 94 per cent last year. At Indraprastha College for Women, the cut-off percentage for this course is a high 91.75-94.75 per cent for this session. For B.Com. (Programme) -- which a large number of students have opted for this year -- the cut-off percentage has either remained the same as it was last year or gone up by 1 or 2 per cent. At Gargi and Ramjas, the cut-off percentage is 90-92 and 92-94 respectively. The cut-off for B.Com. (P) has gone up at Daulat Ram College since last year to stand at 91.25-94.25 per cent. Sri Venkateswara College, too, has seen a minor increase in the cut-off from 91.5 in 2007 to 92 per cent this year. “The off-campus colleges have also shown an increase of 1 to 5 per cent in all the courses. In fact, their cut-offs seem to be the same as for the campus colleges in some courses,” said Deputy Dean Students’ Welfare Gurpreet Singh Tuteja. For the prestigious Economics (Hons), the cut-off at SRCC is 92.75-95.75 per cent. Interestingly this year’s cut-off has come down slightly from 93-96 per cent last year. The same course at Kirori Mal College has seen about a 2 per cent increase from 88-93 per cent last year compared with 90-95 per cent in 2008. Economics (Hons) in colleges like LSR will be available at 94 per cent. The cut-off percentage for one of the most popular courses -- English (Honours) – for which the colleges till last year conducted separate entrance examinations, is fairly high. At Hindu College it stands at 90-98 per cent, whereas at IP it will be available for 87-90 per cent. At LSR the cut-off is a high 93 per cent. The cut-off for History (Hons) at Hans Raj has remained unchanged at 80-86 per cent. At Hindu College, it is available at 86-95 per cent. Political Science (Hons) will require 75-86 per cent at Gargi College, 86-89 per cent at Hindu, 77.5-81.5 per cent at IP and 83-88 per cent at Kirori Mal. Miranda House requires 82-87 per cent for the same this year. Science coursesThe Science courses have witnessed a decline of 2 to 4 per cent in different courses. The cut-off for admission to Physics (Hons) and Chemistry (Hons) at Sri Venkateswara stands at 87 per cent and 80 per cent respectively, having come down since last year. At Hindu College, Physics (Hons) requires 90.33 per cent, up by 0.33 per cent than last year, while the cut-off for Chemistry (Hons) is 86 per cent. Candidates who meet the requirements notified in the first list have been advised to complete their admission formalities in the colleges concerned from June 27 to 30, said an official release.The second cut-off list will come out on July 1.
