Colleges issue separate cut-off list for OBC applicants

Cut-offs relaxed between 1 and 5 per cent compared to general category students

DU decided to accommodate 9 per cent non-creamy layer students from OBC category


NEW DELHI: After Delhi University decided to increase the total number of seats by 18 per cent to accommodate 9 per cent non-creamy layer students from the Other Backward Classes, the colleges for the first time have issued a separate cut-off list for that category.

With high scorers from the OBCs, their cut-offs have been relaxed by only between 1 and 5 per cent compared with that of general category students in most colleges.

For the B.Com. (Programme) – that received the maximum applications -- the cut-off percentage for OBCs is 89-91 per cent at both Gargi College and Ramjas College. The same course is available at Kirori Mal College for 91-95 per cent.

For English (Hons) at Daulat Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College, the first cut-off for OBCs is 84.25-87.25 and 82-90 per cent respectively, which is very minor relaxation compared with the general category.

The cut-off for B.Com. (Hons) at Shri Ram College of Commerce is 90-94 per cent, while for Economics it stands at 90.5-92.5 this year.

For B. Com (Hons), the cut-off has come down from 94-98 per cent in the general category to 92-96 per cent for OBCs at KMC.

To pursue Political Science (Hons) will require 74-84 per cent at Gargi College, 85-88 per cent at Hindu and 72-80 per cent at S.G.T.B. Khalsa College.

At Miranda House, the cut-off for courses in History (Hons) and Political Science (Hons) have been reduced by about 2 per cent for OBCs and stand at 76.5-81 and 80.5-85.5 per cent respectively. B.Sc. (Mathematics) is available for 83 per cent for OBCs, while the same is 86 per cent for the general category students in that institution.

At Gargi College, the cut-off percentage for Physics (Hons) is 77, for Chemistry (Hons) is 75 per cent. B. Sc. Computer Science (Hons) at IP College will be available for OBCs at 85-90 per cent.

Students getting 78 per cent and 80 per cent and above can pursue Botany (Hons) and Zoology (Hons) respectively at Sri Venkateshwara College.
