Heavy rain forecast for North Coastal Andhra

HYDERABAD: Rain lashed parts of the State on Thursday under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation that lay over the Bay of Bengal off North Orissa coast.

The rain which were fairly widespread, are likely to continue on Friday and Saturday too.

Warning

The State Met Office (SMO) here issued a heavy rainfall warning to Srikakulam, Visakhapatnan, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and West Godavari districts.

The SMO said there would be moderate rain in the rest of the State. During the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. Thursday, Narsampet in Warangal district received a heavy rainfall of 8 cm.

The other chief amounts of rainfall received were: Hanamkonda, Narsapur, Boath, Eturunagaram, Venkatapuram 5 cm each; Jagtial, Mulugu 4 cm each: and Khammam, Ramagundam, Chintalapudi, Kaikalur, Thiruvuru, Kodangal 3 cm each.
