Development works inspected

VIRUDHUNAGAR: T.V. Somanathan, Secretary to Chief Minister (Monitoring), inspected the development works and reviewed the welfare schemes in Virudhunagar on Thursday.
Addressing a review meeting, he asked the officials to ensure that the quantity of arrival of vegetables and fruits to the uzhavar sandhais should not go down. The functioning of government hospitals should give no room for public inconvenience. Mr. Somanathan wanted the officials to be careful in selecting beneficiaries for the free colour television scheme and directed them to commission within three months the shopping complex that has not been put to use despite the construction work was completed long back. Officials should concentrate on proper supply of drinking water, motorable roads, timely delivery of uniforms and textbooks to students and immediate action on the petitions forwarded through the Chief Minister’s cell.
Mr. Somanathan also inspected a ration shop and an anganwadi centre here and verified the stock position. He enquired with the people about the supply and quality of essential commodities. The Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, the District Revenue Officer, S. Malarvizhi were were present.
