Handing over cash prizes to students who secured high marks in the Plus-Two public examinations, he said several companies were recruiting students through on-campus placement drives and such facilities should come for government school students. “The government is keen on providing quality education to students of government schools on a par with private schools. Cash prizes and educational loans are given to students to encourage them,” he said. Mr. Rangasamy said Puducherry had all facilities for higher education such as law college, engineering college, arts and veterinary college. “The number of students appearing for the IAS examinations from Puducherry is increasing. Around 200 to 300 students are appearing from the Union Territory,” he said. He exhorted students to read newspapers and general knowledge books regularly. “The number of students appearing for the civil services examinations should increase,” he added.
