dated June 27, 1958: Dock workers’ strike ends

The All India Port and Dock Workers’ Federation decided to call off the ten-day old strike of the port and dock workers in the major ports in the country on June 25 in response to the appeal made by the Prime Minister to do so, in the larger interests of the country, and the assurance given by him that their grievances will be considered expeditiously. The first indication that the strike would be called off was given by the Prime Minister himself who told pressmen at the end of the talks.
