Committees to monitor fertilizer distribution
Staff Correspondent
Chitradurga: For adequate supply of fertilizers to farmers, the district administration has constituted taluk-level committees.
According to an official release issued here on Wednesday, the step had been taken to supply the available fertilizers properly to the farmers.
Composition
The committees would be headed by the tahsildars, while the Assistant Director (Agriculture) would be the member-secretary and police sub-inspectors members.
Officials of the Agriculture Department will be deployed at every fertilizer distribution centre, the release said.
These officials had been directed to ensure that fertilizers were distributed on maximum retail price by collecting the names and addresses of the farmers.
The officials have been directed to take stringent action against fertilizer hoarders, and report the total transaction of the day to the Deputy Commissioner.
Distribution
In another release, Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas said that fertilizers for Chitradurga taluk would be distributed on June 27.
Each farmer would be provided one bag an acre and a maximum of five bags would be given, he said.
The Deputy Commissioner has asked the farmers to bring their identity cards or legal deeds of their land to procure the fertilizers.
