BERHAMPUR: Farmers living in remote areas of the State are still ignorant about the loan waiver scheme launched for them by the Centre, alleged Utkal State Kishan Sabha (USKS). According to president of the USKS Biswanath Sahu said it was the duty of the government agencies to hold awareness programmes in rural areas about the intricacies and norms of loan waiver. The USKS has started an awareness campaign on its own to make all eligible farmers living in interior areas understand the norms of loan waiver scheme. “Our main aim is to direct all small and marginal farmers of rural areas to reach their respective financial institution and enquire whether the bank is considering them for loan waiver or not and whether their proposal for loan waiver has been sent to higher authorities or not. They are also being asked to raise protests if the concerned cooperative societies and banks have not displayed the list of persons eligible for loan waiver.
