More leaders join Goud camp

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Some more leaders have resigned from Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Telugu Desam Party and expressed interest in joining the party to be launched by former senior TDP leader T. Devender Goud.

A former MP M. Rajaiah, resigned from TRS and announced his decision to support Mr. Goud. O. S. Vijay Prashanth, State secretary of TDP Backward Classes Cell resigned and switched over to Mr. Goud’s camp.

Mr. Prashanth, in a statement, said he was unhappy as the TDP failed to take a clear stand on Telangana though the recent byelections showed there was strong Telangana sentiment in the region. No political party could avoid making a mention of Telangana during the byelections.

Meanwhile, the TDP BC Cell held a meeting of Telangana leaders and criticised Mr. Goud for resigning from the party at a crucial juncture when the party was on a come back trail. M. Laxminarayana, president of the cell, reminded Mr. Goud that the party won four Assembly and one Lok Sabha seat in a tight contest besides standing second in a half dozen constituencies.

Another senior leader, R. Ramachandraiah, charged Mr. Goud with not allowing other BC leaders to come up in the party.
