Three youths held for harassing girl near Cuddalore

CUDDALORE: The Mangalampettai police have arrested three persons on the charge of outraging the modesty of a minor girl belonging to the Irula community at Chinnavadavadi near here.

The 15-year-old girl was found lying unconscious in a farm at Chinnavadavadi recently.

After she regained consciousness, she narrated her harrowing experience.

Her mother Anjalai (41), wife of Kolanji, filed a police complaint on June 18 this year.

The police arrested R. Pavadai Rayan (18), K. Prasanth (18) and D.Venkatesan (24) of the same area. It is said one of them had been sexually harassing the girl for the past three months.

Booked under SC/ST Act

The police had invoked provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) and the Indian Penal Code against them. They were remanded to judicial custody.
