Three new Governors appointed

NEW DELHI: The UPA government on Thursday announced three new appointments of Governors in Assam, Sikkim and Meghalaya, filling up gubernatorial vacancies in the three States.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Shiv Charan Mathur was appointed Governor of Assam while former Union Home Secretary Balmiki Prasad Singh was named for Sikkim and former Director-General of Border Security Force R.S. Mooshahary was appointed Governor of Meghalaya.
R.S. Gavai, Governor of Bihar, was transferred to Kerala for the remainder of his term. His place in the Raj Bhavan in Patna will be taken by R.L. Bhatia, Governor of Kerala, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan press communiqué.
