New initiatives to help students prepare for exams

The institute is also offering online courses

PUDUCHERRY: Get set for an exciting July as Alliance Francaise presents an array of cultural events ranging from movies, documentaries, photography exhibition and discussions.

On July 3, a discussion on “Encounter on water and men” will be held at the auditorium. Two French travellers, Coralie Vongsouthi and Fabien Bastide, travelling from France to Laos by car to observe water problems, will participate in the discussions.

Alliance Francaise will start screening open-air cinema on two Wednesdays every month in the gardens of Maison Colombani. “La Mome”, a film on famous French singer Edith Piaf will be screened on July 9, while audiences can catch “La Marche de l’ empereur”, a documentary, on July 23.

Photography exhibition

A photography exhibition by Gandhi Rajan, tracing the origins of painting in Tamil Nadu, will be inaugurated on July 24. It will be open at the gallery till the end of the month.

Indian films honoured at the Lankesh Chitra Habba festival would be screened every Sunday at 6.15 p.m. at the auditorium.

New courses

Alliance Francaise has come up with new initiatives to help students with additional classes and individual tuitions. Intensive courses to prepare students for examinations have been introduced. A new round of French courses including Tamil courses, computer classes, weekend classes for adults and children and courses for DELF examinations would begin on July 7.

Alliance Francaise is also offering online courses. With the help of the French Embassy and Foreign Ministry, Alliance has set up a novel way of Internet learning with monitoring by experienced teachers. Take a look at www.clickonfrench.com.

The library has now got a new look and Alliance Francaise is gearing up for a music festival in August, said a press release.
