Rs. 1 crore for Namakku Naame scheme

Krishnagiri: The State Government has allotted Rs. 1.08 crore for implementing the ‘Namakku Naame’ scheme in Krishnagiri district in the current fiscal, Collector Santhosh Babu has said.

Speaking at a review meeting here on Friday, he said that the scheme was aimed at ensuring sustainable development through active community participation in planning, resource mobilisation, execution of works and maintenance of assets created.

Public contribution

Works selected under the scheme would be executed with public contribution.

The contribution from beneficiaries and public worked out to be Rs. 54.40 lakh. Mr. Babu said that funds would be allotted for development works such as construction of classrooms, laboratories, toilets and compound wall for schools, primary health centres, veterinary dispensaries, libraries, noon-meal centres and fair price shops, hostels, anganwadis, maintenance of public properties, creation of water bodies, small bridges and culverts, upgrading of roads, cement roads, parks, playgrounds, traffic islands, installation of fountains and streetlights, purchase of furniture for libraries, government and panchayat union schools, computers for schools and libraries.

Maintenance and repairs works in the existing buildings and facilities could also be carried out.

Desilting of water bodies cannot be carried out under the scheme.

Individuals, private firms and voluntary organisations could make contributions to carry out a development work under the scheme.
