Reservoir for East Delhi
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: An underground reservoir of 243 lakh litres capacity and booster pumping station has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at Bank Enclave in Geeta Colony here.
Constructed at a cost of Rs.22 crore, the reservoir and pumping station would provide water to a number of East Delhi colonies making the water supply position there more comfortable.
Ms. Dikshit recalled that there was a time when almost all colonies in East Delhi were making use of underground water for drinking and other purposes. But now, she said, there had been a sea change as the Delhi Jal Board had ensured piped drinking water supply in most colonies. It had also earned the distinction of commissioning a number of underground reservoir in a short time.
