LUDHIANA: The Punjab police on Friday claimed to have arrested three Pakistan-trained terrorists with 34.5 kg of RDX explosive from Kaunke village in Jagraon. Inspector General of Police (Zonal) Sanjiv Kalra told reporters in Jagraon that the trio’s main targets were vital defence installations, railway property, oil drums and crowded places. They were associated with the militant organisation “Khalistan Zindabad Force”, he added. The Inspector General said that Amrik Singh, Daljit Singh and Sarvjit Singh alias Sokhu, all of them hailing from Moga, were working at the instance of one Surjit Singh Mahal of Jalandhar and intelligence agencies across the border. Mahal is now based in Hamburg, Germany. According to the police officer, the arrests followed information that some terrorists were planning to carry out “seditious and sabotage activities with a view to disturbing public tranquillity”. They confessed to the police that they had visited Pakistan several times and were trained in handling explosives, added IGP Kalra. -- PTI
