dated June 28, 1958: Governor’s tribute

Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, issued the following condolence message to the press on the sudden passing away of Dr. M.R. Guruswami Mudaliar. "He was the doyen of the medical profession in South India and a much-respected son of Tamil Nadu. His record of public service has been unique. He was connected with various social and religious institutions. He was a nominated member of the Madras Legislative Council. South India has lost an eminent physician, a keen educationist and a gentleman of rare qualities of head and heart. On this solemn occasion, I offer my sympathies to the members of his family in their sad bereavement. May his soul rest in peace.”
