IISc SC/ST body wants better deal

BANGALORE: The Indian Institute of Science Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC and Minorities Employees Welfare Association here has submitted a charter of demands to the Director of the IISc.

The employees are on strike for three days. The strike which entered third day on Friday, will resume on Monday, according to association general secretary H. Kalappa.

Mr. Kalappa stated that the demands include grievances of SC/ST employees, backlog in promotions in groups A, B, C and D posts from 1971, delayed promotions and placements in higher scales of pay, gifts to the employees during the centenary celebrations of the Institute in 2008-09, appointments on compassionate grounds, change in designation to all cadres and a few other demands.
